SEMINARS
Cultivating a Heart for Gang Neighbors
Daniel Neiditch, Legacy Disciple- 2020 Virtual Conference
A great starting point – Danny provides a robust look at gang culture, and how Christians can grow a heart for these community members and consider steps to move towards them as Christ moved towards us.
Ministering to Gang Culture
Daniel Neiditch, Cornerstone Church West LA
While it’s easy to focus on the negative aspects of the gang lifestyle, here we consider what loving and ministering to gang culture could look like. Does our attitude reflect a lack of compassion and wanting nothing to do with them? Are we intentionally looking to love neighbors and see how Scripture can shape our heart towards them? How do the Scriptures help inform the gang member experience and equip God's people to love neighbors more like Christ?
The Christian Response to Gentrification
Daniel Neiditch, Cornerstone Church West LA
Gentrification is a politicized and polarizing issue which is not specifically addressed in the scriptures, but those who live in communities where gangs are present are acutely affected by this reality. This seminar provides some of the historical and present impacts of gentrification on those in Los Angeles, and considers how understanding these realities can move Christians to have compassion on their neighbors.
SERMONS
God's Heart for the Marginalized
Pastor Matt Kleinhans, Cornerstone Church West LA
God has an incredible heart for the marginalized in this world. He loves those who are deemed by our society as outcasts. Click in at 36:30 in this sermon, to hear one former gang member share how God changed his life.
Imago Dei - Made in the Image of God
Pastor Brian Colmery, Cornerstone Church West LA
"Christianity provides a universal reason for universal justice: all people are made in the image of God and are to be treated with dignity and worth regardless of their race, ability, or status. When we understand the image of God and how it ties into the gospel of Jesus Christ, it renovates our perspective on ourselves, the people around us in our city, and our responsibility to reflect God’s love to the world."
Founded in 2015, Prodigal Sons, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit working to reach gang members with the gospel of Jesus Christ through the context of local churches.
